Voice Talent Scholarship #2 Entry

 Can AI Replace Voice Talent?

Some people might believe that with the advent of technological leaps in the makings of artificial intelligence, AI would be able to stably replace voice talents. I disagree with this point of view, for good reasons.

AI might be able to mimic the superficial surface of emotions in speech but they are evidently defeated when it comes to certain depths human voices would have expressed with ease. Artificial intelligence would always remain what it is—an AI—no matter how human beings fine tune them. Years from now, human voicing might become a hot commodity as many industries are now using AI to voice their presentations, animations and more, causing it to become one of the indispensable part of their use of technology.
Voice Talents versus Artificial Intelligence

Putting that aside, if we depend on AI for voicing and many other uses, we are taking a risk of covering our human voice talents with a thick layer of dust. Many talents would remain hidden and the world will not be able to experience their impart, something this world truly need. It would make veteran voice talents—or even upcoming ones—lose the jobs they manage to get through hard work whenever companies decide AI is cheaper and faster with a very low chance of error, disregarding its inferiority compared to voice talents. Every voice is a talent, a unique existence artificial intelligence can't replace.

AI would be better in a supporting role. Making it highlight the uniqueness of human voice is one of of the advantages human themselves don't discover. Sure, artificial intelligence is easier but even with this merit, human beings should still pursue quality over quantity because a voice talent's quality is something an AI can not emulate no matter how sophisticated it is. AI can't replace voice talents because the special emotions humans carry are the best ways to pass a message.
